the NACEYs 2015

There is never a dull moment in the event & wedding world, & March was hardly the slow month that we always believe it’s going to be. There were styled shoots, first meetings with new clients, final meetings with spring clients, networking events, a conference… SO MANY THINGS & we are loving every moment of it. Being busy is a great thing in this first year of Tart, & a full calendar for the month merits high fives all around.

Even though we only officially launched in January of this year, we’ve been working hard to get Tart off the ground & our portfolio filled since last year. When this year’s NACEYs awards opened up for submissions, we were excited to have enough content to submit to a few categories for our first NACEYs debut as Tart Event Co. (If you’re scratching your head about what the NACEYs is, it’s an awards banquet held by the Richmond chapter of NACE for event & wedding industry professionals. If you’re wondering what NACE is, click here so they can tell you more eloquently than we can.)

It was such a fun evening at Dover Hall, spent amongst our Richmond vendor friends & surrounded by things like cinnamon caramel dark chocolate cakepops from Candy Valley Cake Co. & champagne on tap. (We have priorities, okay?) The entire event was Clue themed, which makes complete sense if you’ve ever seen or been inside Dover Hall. It was actually almost too believable for Kelsey, who has seen the 1985 movie waaaaay too many times to be left alone to interrogate Miss Scarlett.

We were beyond thrilled & honored to take home two awards that evening: Best Stationery Suite from Kathryn & Nathan’s wedding (photos by Alisandra Photography & calligraphy by Capital Calligraphy) & Best Use of Theme for the pops of color we infused into our design for this Laura Hooper Calligraphy Workshop  (photos by Rachel May Photography) . We were especially excited that these awards represented our work in both event design and graphic design.

We can't speak highly enough of this incredibly tight knit community of vendors who are all so supportive of each other. So many of the friends in the room gave us the support & resources that we needed to launch our company, & we are grateful so each one of them. We are proud to be a part of the movement that is cultivating community in our industry, & if we get to play a life-sized game of Clue while we're at it? Even better.
